KEY TASKS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• provision of the President of Ukraine, the National Security and Defence Council, Cabinet of Ministers with the conceptual and information-analytical materials concerning the actual issues of the international development processes and the scientifically based proposals related to the strategy formation in the relations with leading countries, authoritative international organisations and alliances and to the decisionmaking process in the sphere of national security and foreign policy;
• development of the forecasting scenarios concerning the policy of the leading states related to Ukraine, its strategic partners and immediate neighbours;
• forecasting the emergence of economic, political and social escalations in Ukraine that can negatively impact on the integration processes of Ukraine to European and world community;
• expertise of the projects, legal documents and governmental decisions concerning issues of global and regional security; monitoring of the development processes of political and military political unions and alliances, situation in conflict and explosive world regions;
• analysis of the issues of information security and Ukraine's presence in the world information environment; publication and dissemination of the scientific researches results conducting under the auspices of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.

ACCORDING TO THE TASKS, THE INSTITUTE ELABORATES FOLLOWING PROBLEMATIC DIRECTIONS:

• global and regional security and stability;
• European and Euro-Atlantic integration;
• important internal processes in the leading world countries;
• external economic relations;
• problems of international communications development;
• social-economic and demographic security issues;
• humanitarian relations;
• military policy and security issues;
• relations in information sphere.

ORGANISATION FORMS OF SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES:

• organisation and realisation of the fundamental studies, researches and applied scientific elaboration in the security sphere; examination of the legislative drafts; elaboration of scientific and research forecasts (inch on a contractual basis);
• co-ordination of the studies related to the international security issues with other scientific institutions; analysis of the current state of studies and elaboration related to the issues of international security in foreign countries; organisation of scientific conferences, meetings, seminars, round-tables concerning the most important issues of global and regional security;
• publication of the "Strategic Panorama* journal, analytical survey related to the international security issues, monographs, scientific collected articles, brochures; scientific and methodological provision of other organisations, drawing the scientific institutions and leading experts in the important researches in the field of NSDCU and NIISP activities training the scientific stuff through postgraduate studies.

SOURCE OF FINANCING

The Institute activity is funded from the Ukraine State budget. Research papers publications, scientific projects elaboration can be carried out on a contractual basis with the financial support of public, private and governmental institutions of Ukraine and other countries.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The Institute co-operates with foreign scientific and information-analytical institutions concerning the important international security issues and participates in exchange of scientific research results and specialists. The Institute takes part in the international conferences, round-tables and meetings.
